After multiple requests from students, educationists, parents, NEET-2020 got postponed twice and the exam will now take place on September 13th, 2020. NEET exam has been postponed twice due to the ongoing COVID-19 crisis and rise in the name of cases. According to the reports and the data, India may witness a spike in the coming months and there is doubt among the students and parents whether NEET 2020 which is scheduled in September will take place or will be postponed again. Many education experts are of the view that postponing the exam again might not be possible and the exam may be cancelled if the number of cases does not decline.

After several delays in conducting the engineering and medical entrance exam — JEE Main and NEET –  students are fearing that any further postponement may affect their entire academic year.

Will NEET 2020 September Exam be Cancelled?

With AIIMS and JIPMER exam being cancelled from this year, and NEET being the only gateway for admission to MBBS/ BDS colleges in India, providing admission to the students on the basis of class 12 marks is not possible. It is also expected that the competition in the NEET exam will be high this year. However, if the situation gets worse and with non-availability of vaccine and medication, the government will have no choice but to cancel the exam. Cancelling NEET 2020 will adversely affect admission to top-notch institutes such as AIIMS Colleges in India.

Also, many medical aspirants take up the strategy to focus more on NEET exam rather than class 12 board exams, in this scenario if admissions are cancelled and admission is on the basis of merit students may suffer and those students who actually prepared for the same may not get a medical college of their choice.
